Sarcoma is a cancer that develops in tissues which connect, support, or surround other structures and organs of the body. These types of tissue include bone, cartilage, fat , muscle, nerves, blood and lymph vessels.

Soft tissue sarcomas are rare cancers. About 1,330 cases are diagnosed every year in the UK. These tumours are unusual in that they can occur almost anywhere in the body, although the majority of sarcomas occur in the limbs.
